Collaboratively Exploring the Public Value of Technology in Boston

About

'About' image

Beta Blocks established temporary relaxed permitting in four block “Exploration Zones” for Boston’s Chinatown, Codman Square, and Lower Allston neighborhoods, with the help of the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics.

The Engagement Lab @ Emerson College partnered with companies to temporarily install technologies in the Zones, and facilitated community feedback to the companies and the City of Boston in a series of meetings and walking tours of the technologies.

Supernormal designed and fabricated the “Beta Blob” that visited Boston neighborhoods, inviting people to participate.
